Thank You Message:

The quilt is so much more than a blanket…it symbolises the genuine care people from all over the world have for Samson and for our challenging journey.  It is very comforting to know that there are people like this who feel so much for our plight.  The women who have stitched for Samson have taken time out of their own lives and invested their spirit and goodwill into a most deserving and beautiful little boy.  Thank you ladies, it is a wonderful thing that you have done.

It was so exciting the day we received the quilt!  When we first showed Samson, he was completely fascinated, quietly studying every individual patch.  It wasn’t long before he was enthusiastically pointing out all the animals and making their sounds.  He absolutely loves it!  We all love it!

We are delighted to have patches from people who know us personally and likewise we feel honoured to have patches from those that have only met us via this web site.   Samson’s 3rd Birthday is coming up; it will be his first one at home having spent so much time in hospital.  We are so pleased to share these photos of the beautiful quilt you have made.  You will also see how well and happy Samson is these days….we are very lucky.

Thank you for being a part of our journey and contributing so much to our happiness.

Love and thanks,

Samson, Jacqui & Jonathan M.

       BIOGRAPHY

Samson was only 4 months old when he was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma Cancer in Feb 2005. With poor weight gain the only symptom, we were lucky to have it diagnosed before it was too progressed to successfully treat.

Throughout 2005, our baby boy endured 8 cycles of chemo and two surgeries. A few weeks after his first birthday in October he had made it to remission. But this was short lived, just 2 weeks before Christmas he relapsed.

We were devastated and knew that the odds were stacking up against us. In the first week of 2006 we began another huge year of treatment. When we were not admitted in the RCH Brisbane, we lived at a hostel next door for most of the year. Samson endured 9 more cycles of chemo, a stem cell transplant, a horrendous 7 hour surgery and 3 weeks of radiation. He battled through like a true warrior, never complaining and always smiling.

Our tremendously brave son is now in remission again. We have not long returned home, but still undergo lots of routine tests.

We believe in Samson’s strength and we know he can beat this!
