ILLNESS: Undiagnosed Syndrome with multiple respiratory & heart defects, and feeding issues.


	May’s quilt top was assembled by Helen~Sydney.

Nicola’s Quilt Stitchers:

We are a dozen or so of Italian women, of all ages and cities. I myself know personally some of them, but with other we just exchange emails; we all love stitching… and kids! Some of us are mommies, other are grannies, many are aunties… and other are all! We loved these babies, and hoped it would make you happy. Your quilts is “special”, because we are all from the other side of the world, the old Europe, and our squares travelled for many thousands of miles to reach you. And with them, we give you and your beautiful family a very large hug.

BIOGRAPHY

Nicola was born 5 weeks early. Shortly after birth she had a seizure and developed breathing problems and was taken to special care nursery. She was only in SCN for about 15 minutes before being rushed to NICU and put in an isolette on a CPAP machine, where she stayed for the next 3 weeks.

While in NICU she was diagnosed with multiple congenital heart defects and a suspected as yet undiagnosed genetic syndrome.

3 days after taking her home she was readmitted to hospital for feeding difficulties and respiratory distress and was shortly after diagnosed with gastrointestinal complications.

Nicola is now 8 months old and has so far spent most of her little life in hospital.
