Thankyou for giving us a gift that Natalia will treasure forever, to remember the hard times and happy times in her journey to get better.

BIOGRAPHY

Natalia was born on the 10th of September a healthy 4.02kg girl. She was perfect in every way and hardly ever got sick.

It was one weekend when she woke up with blood around her mouth that it all started. I thought she may have bitten her tongue and didn't think much more of it. It was that week I also noticed her body was covered in bruises. Then I noticed that her tongue had about 6 ulcers on it so I took her to the medical centre that night because it looked painful.

I also mentioned the bruises, the doctor said they were coldsores on her tongue and to come back for the bruises later that week. The next morning I decided to take her to our GP about the bruises, she seemed to think Natalia was getting bullied at pre-school. However I didn't mention to her the cold sores because I didn’t think they had anything to do with each other. So the next night I was holding Natalia when I noticed a lump on her head above her ear, I said to my husband what is going on with her...I took her again to another doctor (becasue I was embarrassed to go back to my GP) and he said she may have hit her head and it’s nothing to worry about.

Then the weekend came around and Natalia was getting really tired, not playing or walking much and would just lie on us. It was on the Sunday when she was crying that I noticed a large white ulcer on the side of her mouth and her lips had turned completely white that I said to my husband, lets take her to the childrens hospital at Westmead.

She was admitted straight away and within an hour we were told our precious angel has cancer in the blood later confirmed as Leukemia.

Our world came crashing down. Its been 2 months since diagnoses and Natalia is in complete remission and is doing really well. She has been through so much already but she is truly an inspiration to us as are all the other amazing kids we have met. We now know that Leukemia is one of the most curable cancers and are nothing but positive that she will grow up to be a beautiful, happy, healthy and strong little girl.
