Luke grew up a happy and gorgeous little boy.

When his older brother was diagnosed with Juvenile Battens Disease at age 6 we were told it was a genetic disease and that Luke may have it too. We found this hard to take in and when it was found at age 4 that he too had this terminal illness the world fell out from under our feet.

Here were our perfectly normal and happy little boys, deteriorating before our very eyes. Worse for us was the fact that nothing seemed wrong with Luke at all. But by the time he was 8, he too started to go blind and exhibit some of the behaviour and degeneration that battens disease brings on.

Despite these challenges Luke is interested in the world and people around him and shows great interest in historical legends and the world of spies and loves to be around people and participate in life in any way he can.
