BIOGRAPHY

Curtis was born a beautiful and bright little baby. We lived by the sea and he had a beautiful and happy childhood.

When he was about 5, we noticed that he found it hard to see at night, and started a long process of investigating what was wrong with his vision. This was a long and arduous process, with not much happening.

His vision got worse, but still no-one really knew what was happening. A Neurologist finally made the diagnosis of Battens Disease (juvenile) and it was then that our world fell apart. We learnt that he had an incurable band degenerative brain disease that would shorten his life considerably and challenge us all.

With all the difficulties he faces, blindness and brain degeneration he still finds enjoyment in life and people. Soon he will be unable to walk or talk, so we try to love him as much as we can and give him as many opportunities to experience life as best he can.
