Thank You Message:

Alyvia was so surprised when she opened her parcel, she looked at it for hours, so did her brother and sister, Max & Beth. Her big sis Beth stated to her "A special quilt for little special you", Alyvia said "I can't beleive all these people in the world did this for me, Wow", Max said "Lyv this is sooooo cooool", typical boy.
We as a family would not wish this upon anyone, to endure the possibility of losing a child, and in the kids case a little sister to this predatory, hideous disease called cancer, but in saying that our lives have been enriched with the most compassionate, caring and selfless people. We have experienced many setbacks in the last couple of years, but the high's have far outweighed the debilitating low's, it is people like yourselves that continuously uplift us and keep us from falling down that deep dark bottomless hole and encourage us to keep one foot in front of the other. You give us the strength to rise & shine to each new day no matter what uncertainty confronts us and for that we are truly grateful, thankyou all for showing us the most important aspect of life "LOVE", it certainly makes our world go round. THANKYOU & never will be forgotten.
Sincerely
Alyvia G's Family

                             BIOGRAPHY

Alyvia was a happy healthy 6lb 11oz baby, slept well and still does, thankfully.

Food has always been extremely important to Lyvy which has held her in great stead since starting treatment. Bam Bam as we have affectionately called her since a little toddler, due to her amazing strength, is “Life Be In It”, loves to be outdoors and always busy, there is never a boring moment with lyv around, played piano, runs around the tennis court also swims like a fish, which is how all her troubles began after swimming at the local pool, came down with an ear infection. A course of antibiotics cleared up the infection but she became tired, pale, spiking temps, & lacked appetite, which was not our little Lyvy at all, there was something drastically wrong. Then our worst fears were confirmed our little Bam Bam had leukaemia, which was diagnosed just weeks after her 6th birthday and 5 days before Xmas 2004, it was such a shock, and is a life changing challenge. Lyvy contracted a systematic fungal infection in the first 5 weeks of treatment, enduring 8 debridement procedures to get it under control, with 40 degree temps for almost 4 mths as it took over her Kidney’s, Liver & Spleen, this was a distressing time for all. So here we are now 22 mths into treatment with 6 mths to go, Lyvy is slowly regaining her strength, busy as usual and attending school when she can. Alyvia is an inspiration to all who come in contact with her, she has remained her happy positive little self and is a tower of strength, as parents we are so proud of our little Bam Bam, who even picks us up if she thinks we are feeling down. Her determination to be around to harass her older brother & sister is unbelievable, we love her dearly, and she knows we need her, as much as she needs us!
